I used to think linen trousers belonged in the same category as sun hats and basket bags; something you pack for a beach vacation and don’t really revisit until your next flight to Greece. But somewhere between my fifth week of wearing them on repeat in London and sourcing a backup pair for work meetings, I realized I’d been giving them far too narrow a brief. While most people associate linen pants with poolside lounging or seaside dinners, I’ve found them quietly infiltrating every part of my wardrobe lately and yes, even the office.

Of course, linen pants will always thrive in their natural habitat: humid days, balmy nights, and any setting that involves SPF. But if you’re still thinking of them as a vacation-only item, you’re missing half the styling potential. Whether I’m meeting a friend at the pub, running errands in the city, or trying to look like I’ve got my life together at a 9 a.m. Zoom call, I find myself reaching for my favorite pair of slouchy white Reformation Olina pants.
